A Result File is the file created by a search engine when a new search is submitted. OMSSA (.omx files), Mascot (.dat files) and X! Tandem (.xml files) search engines are currently supported by Proline. A first step when using Proline is to import Result Files through Proline Studio or Proline Web.

Search engines provide different types of searches for MS and MS/MS data. It is important to highlight that the Result File content depends on the search type. Thus, Mascot searches must be currently performed using MS/MS ions search in order to be properly imported by Proline. Peptide Mass Fingerprint and MS/MS error tolerant searches will be supported in further versions of Proline.
